Chris Henry

Good news for the Bengals. Better news for Henry. We're talking about a guy's life here. Wonderful talent, chance to secure himself for life. Without football, who knows? I dont know him, but he comes off as quiet, even shy, which is why it was a little surprising to hear all the trouble he created for himself. Point is, while his presence will make the Bengals offense a whole lot better, it will also hopefully make him the player and person he can be.

While I'm at it, I never understood why players in Henry's situation couldn't practice. The structure and regimentation, would seem to me, would help a guy like Henry keep his nose clean. Especially a guy like Henry. The money-fame-free time trap has hooked pro jocks for many years. Taking away the daily drill of the season just gives these guys more time to get back in trouble.

Regardless, here's hoping Henry does better with his second chance than he did with his first.

Nice to read that a second chance is a good thing. Regardless of Henry's transgressions, he does come off as something different on a personal level. I would guess the possible poster boy for not being able to rid himself of "hangers on" thus far. Here's hoping he keeps it together. I for one do not expect him to be sainted any time soon, nor do I need him to be. Just play football and stay straight enough to be able to continue to do so. I'd love to watch a rematch with the Pats, with Chris Henry and a healthy team in toe.

I really doubt that Henry's "learned his lesson" or "grown up" or whatever other cliches we want to throw at a situation like this. Hopefully, he'll prove me wrong because he's the most physically talented receiever on the Bengals.

Second chance? This is about his 6th or 7th chance. But I agree, I hope he gets his life turned around for his sake, not just football.

Doc, as far as whether is should be allowed to practice during suspension, I see your point, but it is an unpaid suspension, and my guess is that the policy was negotiated that way with the Player's union

"I'd love to watch a rematch with the Pats, with Chris Henry and a healthy team in toe (SIC)."

That's the definition of a sadist, righ there.

He's an immature, punk, thug, criminal. Second chance? This kid has had more than a second chance. He's a LOSER in life and more money and fame will only serve to corrupt him further.

The Bengals should trade him and move to guys with more character because "character guys" win more often than idiots like Henry.

Doc...you're defense and warm feelings for the guy make me sick. Bleeding heart nonsense...

He is a THUG. End of discussion.

Paul,

Whoo-hoo! I JUST sold my excellent tickets to 4 hearty Pittsburgh fans!

I asked face-value, not wanting to make money off the deal.

I can't wait to hear the black-and-gold fans go wild in our Jungle!
Why?

Because ROOKIE coach Tomlin is going to give Lewis a LESSON that being a "PLAY-A COACH" does NOT work.

Here comes the arm tackling!
Levi Jones ... false start, unprepared.
Coach Lewis, emerging fraud.

If I could lead the Bengal Faithful in cheering the name

SCHOTT-EN-HEIMER!
I would!
Ciao!

If Chris Henry turns his life/career around, then I hope this city and the media show him the same respect as the did to Josh Hamilton. I hope the respective player's skin color is not a factor in our attitudes towards them.

Yeah, and no one can ever change, which is how an alcoholic cokehead became president.

When did having a drinking problem make someone a thug? So alcoholism goes along with being a thug? And I know what you will bring up, the underage drinking thing, blah, blah, blah. I'm betting the girls were over the age of 18 and under the age of 21. I'm 20 and I do a little drinking. Does that make me a thug? I can sign up for war and be in Iraq in six months but I can't partake in an alcoholic beverage. But if I do, I'm a thug? So all of those beer commercials during the football games are supporting thuggery and the drunken idiots at any sports event are thugs. Hey anonymous 2:24, think before you type because your words make you sound unintelligent.

I see a gleem men. I see a gleem. Go get that gleem.

Suprised alcohol is such a big problem for some of you posters. I'm guessing many have partaken (partook?) shortly before they posted:
- Rematch w/ Patriots?
- Thug - end of discussion. OK.
- Sold tickets at face? Smart.
- Chris Henry for president?
- What's a gleem? Like a glimmer?

BTW Paul, Appreciate that you stay of Mike Brown's case, it's well deserved. He's making money (lots) w/ the status quo. I believe the only thing that MIGHT make him upgrade is if he gets lambasted enough in the media/fans.

Butterball -- Enjoyed your article, I moved to DC area in 1965 and have never owned nor wore any Redskin regalia. I still root for the black and gold.

I think we would be better off if he had remained an alcoholic cokehead AS President.

Chris Henry deserves a chance again...did he shoot soemone? Deal drugs?

It is funny how people will rip him and are some sure on who he is. If you walked a mile in his shoes than yeah,by all mean shoot your mouth off about him. I'd say if he turns himself around he should be ommended and would may make others think they can turn themselves around.

If he tosses this chance away, then its definitly on him. But to say "He's a thug end of discussion" shows the shallow and stunted maturity level of your brain and of course you simply may have too much hate for people.

The only felon who is allowed additional chances in this town is Pete Rose....and the funny part is, he hates you people.

Do you mean that the President ISN'T STILL an "alcoholic cokehead"?!

If he's not, then that means he is just... stupid....

the NFL seems to be screwing over the bengals somewhat. take a look at what happened with the patriots, actually caught cheating. but instead, it turns out that this has been a huge cover up and the pats got off easy. Why? they make money for the NFL. if that was the bengals, or dolphins, or another losing team, they would be out of the league by now. the NFL doesn't care that the bengals are going to struggle without odell and henry. but if a patriot gets caught, it'll be cover-up all over again. just business in the eyes of the league.

I don't think Chris Henry gets it. He's been blessed with physical talent and great opportunity. Yet, after so many chances, he still wants to pick a fight with a parking attendant at Newport on the Levee over a $5 parking fee, saying "Do you know who I am?"
If I were the parking guy, I'd have said, "Aren't you the jerk from the Bengals? That'll be 10 bucks."
