Trolling for cheap(er) golf

I'll never forsake the legendary and beautiful Hickory Weeds, er, Woods, where a man can hack and walk right now for $22 a round....but I am wondering if you guys play somewhere as chea-, I mean as inexpensive. Because, as my friend(s) will attest, I'm an inexpensive kind of guy. Lemme know. Drive big...

Sure am glad the whole Junior-to-right thing's been settled. I was missing seconds of sleep worrying...

As Saturday showed, man can hit falling out of bed. Question will be, as always, how his legs hold up...

Anyone else find Bill Raftery borderline unlistenable? That thing he does when he starts emphasizing phrases while seemingly grinding his molars: Why?

On the other hand, J, Brantley has been a pleasant surprise. He's easy to listen to, and provides the sort of pitcher's-eye analysis you dont get often in a radio booth. Nor has he been shy w/the criticism. Needs to work on his play-by-play, though...

Many congrats to NCH for winning #3. Truly a community win. Be very proud...

Best thing I see on TV now is The Unit. Otherwise, TV stinks until The Shield comes back next week...

Bret Wetterich's (Oak Hills) in the final pairing today, w/T.Woods...

Meanwhile, who'd the Bengals add to make them better today than they were New Year's Eve? Oh, that's right. Nobody.

Doc,
Give Lindale Golf Course(Amelia) a try. $22 weekdays/$27 weekends. Got a huge party deck to sit and drown your pathetic round of golf you just witnessed on. Also, its a short course, so it can/will boost your confidence on some days(both par 5's are reachable in 2(with a short iron). And here's a little secret, Sundays you can bring your own cooler(they don't serve beer on Sundays).
Oh yeah, after Labor Day, rates are $20(with a cart) all you can golf.

Your right, THE UNIT is the best show on tv right now...Jonas "Snake Doctor" Blane would kick Jack Bauers A**!!!

You have to remember that Jonas was President David Palmer on 24 before being killed last year, who was great friends with Jack Bauer.

Doc,
I love Rafftery! "A little lingerie on the deck!" and his patented "Mantaman!" or "Send it in!"

Rafftery and Vern Lundquist speak verbal ambrosia.

Gus Johnson is great too, his call of the OSU/Xavier thriller was classic. These guys actualy showed emotion and passion and do what they can to bring that to the fans watching the game. Meanwhile the stuffed-shirtedness of Jim Nantz and Billy Packer puts me to sleep faster than George Grande does during Reds games on FSN. James Brown was a poor additon to the CBS announcing lineup for March Madness, he has his niche of being a studio-guy, not a play-b-play guy.

Raftery is terrible. And lately he has been doing a poor job of pregame prep. Sometimes he doesn't even know which players are on which team.

The Bengals will be fine. They moves that they haven't made are almost as important as the ones that they will. You don't always need to add more players to become better. Unlike baseball, in football you can overpay a few players and put yourself in a salary cap mess for years (ask the 49ers).

Doc. I play Lindale all the time. Good deal for the $$, a decent hacker course. If you want quantity over quality, Taylor Glen and the Pines are as inexpensive as you can get. For $20 or $25 weekdays you can play all you want all day. The courses aren't the greatest, but if you want to smack it around a bunch and not have anyone in your way, its hard to beat cost wise.

Eric, is Rafftery your uncle or something? Seriously-I cannot stand the dude. It isn't even as much what he says but how he says it that bothers me. Don't get me wrong, I love enthusiasm, but you have to know how to use it as a broadcaster.

The Unit is very good...much better than 24 right now and ahead of Heroes since Heroes went overboard with Jessica. But NCIS is the best thing on the tube right now.

Who is Bill Rafferty? Brantley will be a good #3 person to provide a change of pace between the Thom and Marty, er...Marty & Thom show.

The only person who thought the Junior thing was a big deal was John Fay.

Maybe the Bengals only need to keep the players that have out of bars and away from guns and young girls.

Milton who? after today Livingston should be #3, Belisle #4 and Lohse #5...That is if ownership doesn't want to dump all the goodwill they have built up. No one is going to come and watch Milton give up three homers at GABP in three innings anyway.

It seems that people either love or hate Bill Rafftery, Gus Johnson, and Bill Walton.

I love all 3 of them! They bring emotion as well as humor to the broadcast booth.

I can understand why some people don't like them. I guess people just like different styles and personalities.

For instance I think Jeff Brantley sounds a little cheesy...I think he'll be good in the long run, but it'll take awhile.

Give me Gus Johnson, Rafferty, and Walton in the booth and I could watch any game!

Hey Chena... never had 'em. Wish I did.

Boone Links near Burlington is a deal at $23 walking. And if you do come down to Kentucky, might as well splurge and see Lassing Pointe ($37) in Union, the top public course in Kentucky and a slice of heaven on earth late on a summer afternoon.

Wouldn't know about baseball announcers. As is well known, God invented golf to get us from the end of college basketball season to the start of football season, so why does baseball even exist?

Raftery is excellent. The Lundquist-Raftery team should be CBS' number 1 team - Instead we get Packer and Nantz. Ugh.

My dad and I just played Indian Valley in Newtown. It is $10 all you can play until April 1, and still cheap after that.

The opened the new nine at Reeves at Lunken last year. The turf is really nice.

Is Kingswood out in Mason still open? They are pretty cheap, and it's short, but some of the holes are pretty challenging.

I would suggest disc golf, and saving your $22. I agree about both Raftery, Brantley, and the Bengals. I would suggest watching House on t.v. It' the only show I watch and I find it to be very entertaining. Congrats on the Sportstalk gig. I'm looking forward to listening to the show.
