Cleveland without end, Amen

Thought Bengals fans might enjoy this exchange with a Browns fan. A few things before you read it:

(1) I was wrong. The Browns overachieved. The Bengals achieved not at all. So much for optimism as it pertains to the home football team. The Browns are clearly the better team, have been since Week 2. Browns fans right; Doc wrong.

(2) After reading this guy's message to me from yesterday, no wonder Bengals fans dislike the dopes up north. Here it is:

Subject: Cleveland Browns
Dear Sir,
It is at this festive time of year that we endeavor to make some small provision for the poor. It is also at this time of year that people often become introspective and try to make themselves into better persons, perhaps by becoming more honest or raising their integrity level.
Do you remember this conversation from September?

(From me, back in September: Thanks, Tom... do me a favor: when the browns have a better record at the end of the year, write back and tell me how wrong I was... I'll be happy to acknowledge it, on the blog and on the air on 700 wlw... of course, if the bengals own the better record, i'll expect the same from you... thanks for reading...Paul)

Consider this to be an opportunity to improve your standing with the Lord as to being honest and having integrity. Browns fans everywhere look forward to reading your acknowledgement as to the excellent season they have experienced that you, in all you wisdom and experience, did not see coming. (oline wins games, Browns is vastly improved, this was not that hard to predict, just as the demise of the Bengals can also be in large part traced to the reduced performance level of their oline.)
Thanks and God bless us everyone!

Forgive me, Father, for I have sinned. I really hope this improves my standing w/the Lord, who is a Browns fan.

Hey Doc. Thanks for being standup-at last. Now really, don't ya feel better? Confession is good for the soul so I was happy to be of service to you.

Have a great holiday and let's get busy working on figuring out who the Bengals will get with that very high first round pick they are working on securing.

Your new favorite Browns fan, Tman.

I don't care about the Bengals anymore. But, I am mad about the Reds trading Josh Hamilton. One more fan lost.

Hey Paul. This guy posts on the Cleveland Live Browns forum all the time and you nailed him. He doesn't even realize how sanctimonious and condescending he is. He predicted the Browns to be 8-8 at best and likely 7-9. He also predicted Charlie Frye would lead the team to the playoffs. So clearly the '07 version of the Cleveland Browns is as much of a shock to him as it is to every other rational football fan in the country. Keep up the good work!

Hey Doc, At least he didn't call you any bad names - let's just leave it that?

Humor (however weak) is preferrable to name-calling.

Butterball -- First; you NEVER admit you are wrong to a Browns fan. Regardless od the cirumstances. They are inherently inferior; otherwise why did Paul Brown bail on them in the first place.

Second; the moment someone invokes the lord and their personal cause; it is time to clap your hans over your ears and startt the lalalalala mantra,

Inferior: Lower in space, order, status, etc; poor in quality. Sounds like the Bengals to me! 5-9<9-5. Brown was fired in Cleveland. All time franchise records.... I'll let you do the math.

Actually quarter_nelson, I don't think Paul Brown bailed on the Stains, I think Art Modell fired him after taking full control of the team.

Art Modell is loathed by Cleveland and Cincinnati. He fired PB, which ended up being catalyst for Bengals AFL franchise. Art took the dough and relocated Browns to Baltimore. Great fans and city leaders of Cleveland took it upon themselves to keep team history, records, etc. in Cleveland.
God bless Paul Brown and Alfred Lerner.
Next year, Santa, can this game be a preview of AFC championship ??
D A vs C Palm for the Pac 10 ..er AFC North title !
Congrats to T J for Pro Bowl selection !

Ryan -- Now you are letting facts get in the way of your fandom. Ok, Bengals -- the Browns are right after all. Thank goodness, I bleed back and gold.

I guess the lord had his back turned during "The Fumble", "The Drive", and the exodus to Baltimore. Maybe the lord is a fair weather fan, as well.

Sorry Paul, but the Brown's "Overacheived" is a bit overstated. The realy could have two more wins. I think that the Brown "underacheived" the first week of the season.

I am not even an Brown fan, and even I can see that the Browns are better than the Bengals.

Look at the top.
