bill walker

I dislike writing about walkermayo (or is it mayowalker) so much that I almost never do it. Maybe it's because I have to hose down myself and my laptop every time I do. It's not about walkermayo; it's all the junk that surrounds them, and every other big-time kid basketball player. The latest is that walker is done at NCH because, apparently, he didnt know what grade he was in, and nobody with his interests at heart (allegedly) bothered to fill him in. Now we cry big tears for the "exploited'' manchild. Oh, no, what will he do next season? And gee, how will NCH manage without him?

C'mon.

Walker will do fine. He's a basketball player, a very good one. Some team or school or team masquerading as a school will find a spot, somehow, for the 2nd-best high school player in the country, according to those who decide such things. NCH will manage as well, though the next time I hear that the school has put some of its extra basketball revenue toward something meaningful -- tutors, books, academic staff -- will be the first.

Meantime, don't fear for walkermayo. Soon enough, each will do what each wants to do -- play ball for money -- and we'll move on to worrying about the next "exploited'' kid, who will be 10 years old.

First, it is a shame that these kids have been put on a pedastool. They are very good ball players, but apparently not that bright (getting suspended, skipping classes, not knowing your own eligibility).

Also, I think they are way overrated. People around here think that they are the next Lebron James. Lebron is a once in a generation player. Neither Bill or OJ have proven themselves on the college level yet

Funny, why is it that everyone likes to get their "panties" in a bunch over "inner city basketball kids" but fail to lift a finger or raise a voice when it comes to subburban kids who leave their families at a young age to go play tennis in Florida? (the same holds true for soccer, baseball, volleyball and hockey) Why is it that these same people will turn the "other cheek" when it comes to young white kids at the age of 5 and 6 who train to become female gymnist? finally, what is it about the majority white media and their fascination with basketball players and what they do to achieve their goals over young white subburban kids who are trying to achieve the same goals? It sounds like the typical media bias against black athletes that have gone on for the last 40-60 years. What a shame it is that more minorities have'nt been able to break into the sports media to combat such ignorance and incompetence.

Did i miss something? Where was all the concern for those kids and parents who send their little ones to Florida and other places around the United states at such a young age? HHMMMMMMMMMM.Where was this same concern for michelle Wie and the little girls Anne marie tracey trains at the tender age of 5-15? HHHHHHHMMMMMMMMMMMMMM...And you wonder why some say the media has a bias against the game of basketball.

Bill Walker's situation makes me question who, if anyone, had his best interests at heart. It's incredulous to think that not a single coach, parent, player, fan, teacher, or friend knew that his eligibility would expire. And, frankly, it's not so far-fetched to think that he wasn't aware of it either. Heck, he's a teenager! As for those adults who probably knew things would blow up but did nothing...they had their own selfish interests at heart. Sure, he'll be okay; he'll play basketball somehow, but it makes me wonder what else they'd do to support their own interests over his.
