bubbleheads

My son and a friend went to Felipe Lopez Bobblehead Night last night. During the game, they went to the restroom, and left the dolls on their seats. When they returned, the dolls were gone. Which prompts the question: What kind of greedy, braindead, permanently adolescent moron who already has his own bobber steals someone else's? What do these people do, put these things up on eBay as soon as they get home? Put a pair in a shoebox and pray they have kids? I was at the game last night. I watched people pay for their tickets, get their toy, turn around and walk out. They wouldnt know Felipe Lopez from Felipe Alou. The whole bobblehead phenomenon is very strange.

The best sport few people care about is on ESPN and ESPN 2 this weekend: The NCAA lacrosse Final 4. If you've never seen it, do yourself a favor and tune it in. TV does an OK job of presenting the speed and skill involved, but the best way to appreciate it is to see it live. At its highest level, there is no more exciting sport. Check it out.

Chris Henry's trial in Florida, for waving that handgun in public in Orlando, is Tuesday. Given Marvin Lewis' emphasis on "character'', it will be interesting to see how the team handles this latest display of dopey by their talented and wayward wideout. Especially if he escapes jail time.

spend a day driving the 275 loop, and see how many times people cut-off and tailgate their fellow drivers... watch the footage of people trampling over others to get in a Best Buy at 5:00am the morning after Thanksgiving... tune into MTV sometime and check out some of their current, trash reality shows - to see how spoiled and stupid today's youth act...

and, that should pretty much answer your, "why'd they steal Felipe" question...

btw Doc, was the Felipe Lopez bobblehead true to life? in other words, were they authentic to the point of putting a little tattoo on his tiny bobblehead neck?

One of my biggest pet peaves are the guys that mow down 10 kids to get that fly foul ball, then gloat that he got it.
Every year I go to Bengals training camp. I like to get pictures, but it's a great way to get autographs. Theres always some idiot with two footballs, 10 pictures and two hats he wants signed and I've seen it countless times when these guys use there 230lb frames to block out kids trying to see there heros. Makes me sick.

I think actualy stealing these bobbleheads From kids to make $20 on Ebay is a whole new level of low.

Chris Henry is gonna get more chances than he deserves and in the end he'll still mess up. they should just lock him up with the bobblehead thieves.

Later Al

I can go one better than the theft of Kelly's Lopez bobblehead and that of his friend.
Two years ago, I took my preteen daughter, Anna, to the American Girl Day gig at GABP. Girls got a doll outfit. Some a**hole stole my daughter's American Girl outfit. I can think of nothing lower than stealing from a ten year old girl and a doll outfit at that. Trying to console a little girl after such a thing taxed my resourcefulness as a parent. Some kind soul saw our tears and said she had an extra and gave it to Anna. Live big. Nice column on Carson this a.m.

Not sure if the link will work but a search of "Felipe Lopez Bobblehead" at 1:03 the following day turned up 57 results. Going price? About 10 bucks.

As for the guy who related this as a youth problem... man you are pathetic. Get off your high horse and realize it has nothing to do with age and everything to do with plain, all around, crappy people.

One time at band camp, I left my trumpet while I went to the bathroom and when I came back it was still there.

Come on people, you can't be that stupid. If you leave something of value in a very public place, it is very likely that it will be stolen. It sucks, but that is reality, live and learn.

Many are actually listed BEFORE the game, just like Opening Day tickets. The business end of this equasion blows.

Paul in your Adam Dunn article today you stated:
"Until Narron rested him Wednesday, Dunn was the only Red to play in every game this season."
You might want to check your resources for your stats. Felipe Lopez has played in all 47 games to date.
Otherwise, keep up the good work. Love your stuff.

The lacrosse Final Four was great, although my Syracuse Orange got beat by #1 Virginia. UMass pulled off a thrilling upset of Maryland. The championship game Monday afternoon (1 p.m. on ESPN in HD) ought to be a hoot.

Nearly 50,000 people attended Saturday's semifinals in Philadelphia. That's pretty huge.
