Grand Theft Auto IV

OK, confession: I might have to purchase GTA IV... Normally, other than Tiger Woods golf, I don't play video games. They are (1) a huge waste of time I don't have and (A) too hard for my feeble brain and hand-eye functions to master. I'd have a better chance of hitting The Player Formerly Known as Chad on a skinny post in real life than on Madden.

But GTA...

I get my kid to look up the codes that give you all the weaponry. Then I plug in the codes. I think it was GTA II where I'd get the rocket launcher, drive to the top of a parking garage and lay waste to all the police vehicles looking for me down below. What fun.

If I was feeling especially unruly, I'd simply slide on the brass knuckles and go jogging down the street punching out old women.

I never learned to play the game. What for? The beauty of GTA is in your ability to release all that latent hostility on a fantasy world. I don't know, but I'd bet the world would be a much safer place if all those with criminal intent were given copies of GTA IV.

I have malice in my heart. But only virtually.

Sometimes, I'd hijack a motorcycle and just ride. Was GTA III San Andreas? Man, I loved that one. All this great West Coast scenery. I'd get on the bike and hill-hop. You havent known virtual pleasure until you've hopped the hill bearing the HOLLYWOOD sign.

Of course, there was the lighthouse on Miami Beach in GTA II. I'd climb that puppy with a machine gun...

Probably the most unexpected post every from you my man! I'm glad their are some people out their with sense that realize it is a VIRTUAL world. Kids shouldn't be allowed to play this game for a reason unless they are talked to and understand the game. I'm buying a PS3 for GTA:IV and MLB: The Show. I would highly recommend a PS3 even though you said you don't play games as much. Its just stunning to see the difference between the two systems.

Well jake2bake4 is correct in that if you don't play video games you should get the PS3, only because the PS3 will also provide you a BluRay disk player. But as far as graphics and differences, there are really none as pertains to those two games. Then again, if you already own a BluRay player, get the 360 as its a cheaper buy.

Well I mean, not both games, if you DO want to play MLB the show you'll have to go for the PS3, as its not a 360 game.

Also the 360 version of GTA IV will be graced with extra exclusive content on the 360 only, as paid for by Microsoft for $50 million.

I liked barricading myself in an alley and making my last stand against the cops with a rocket launcher. I was general Custer.

Heck yes i got it today and it is going to be awesome. I usually have a hard time convincing the lady to let me spend $60 on something she finds piontless (ex: madden, call of duty 4) but she was looking foward to GTA 4 as much as me, all for the simple fact that you can just virtually rome and do whatever with the understanding that I wouldnt even want to do this stuff if i could in real life.

If you dont have a PS3, get one. The Blu-Ray pitch worked for me (trying to explain the reason to spend 600 aimless dollars to the lady)

Carson Palmer will develope bad acne, loose any chance of talking to girls along with his hand/eye coodination, where braces, and still win the MVP

Well, Daugherty it seems that in your latest article that you have gotten back up on your high horse, and riding it all through town.

Spare me the spam (the fake ham or the junk mail, you choose) about fans being deeply hurt over Chad downing Cincinnati.

If someone is spending more than an iota of his or her time worrying about Chad Johnson, they should be in a padded room.

Enough with the Chad only cares about himself crap. Of course he does. You think HE is thinking about little Jimmy who goes to Riverside Elementary, when it comes to his happiness in an organization.

If your situation at the Enquirer was tumultuous, and you wanted to get out, would you think about me, one of your avid readers before you made your decision? I won't answer for you. But I know what I think.

Stop investing in Athletes. They're lying when they say they love the city. No, they love the city they have created within the city. Carson doesn't love Cincy, he loves the Cincy that he gets to create.

Carson doesn't know anything about the Cincinnati that I live in. And if I was worth $60 Million, I could turn dung into gold also.

Think before You Write.

I was truly enjoying the resounding silence following Coach Lewis's statement, calling Chad out and inviting him to spend the next three years watching the NFL on TV and waiting tables for a living.

The only way that "Chad" remains an issue if you, Paul, continue to make it one. Let it go. Let him go. His only leverage is our attention. I am quite certain that NFL coaches and players have effective ways to deal with "troublemakers" inside the organization.

Anon 449, well said. It's Doc's job to stir the pot though, and human nature to listen to him do it. I agree with you, but unfortunately watching this melodrama play out may be more interesting than watching the product on the field.

4:49 You cannot be serious! "The only way that "Chad" remains an issue if you, Paul, continue to make it one."
This is a national news story and a huge problem for the Bengals. And the resolution is important to every other team in the league.
I'm sick of hearing about Chad too but it isn't going away if Doc just ignores it.

I think everyone in Cincinnati should be given a copy of GTA, to prepare them for when they ride the streetcars!

No, I don't, actually. Do you get paid to read it and respond anonymously?

PDaug, If you really don't get paid for doing this "community service", I'll chip in. Check for the value of a Keystone Light (30 pack) is "in the mail".
Address? Home, Enquirer, whatever?
Just need to address the envelope.

Really appreciate your stuff.

Doc, I gotta agree on the Keystone beer thing with another poster who said it is undrinkable.

Sorry, just can't get it down and no I am not one of those "beer snobs" that knows 16 different brands from all the little towns in Northern Ohio that you can only buy at that certain store.

I like beer, but man, that Keystone is rough.

Even my deadbeat friend who will drink warm Burger beer at 730AM won't drink a 'stone. That's a testament.

Enjoy it and take comfort in the fact that there's more for you since I can't drink it.

I fully expected to come into the post and see an uninformed person railing against video games and their evils.

I was pleasantly surprised to find someone who enjoys the freedom of an open world sand box.
