Odell

Very good to see he has been working out and should be in shape when/if NFL reinstates him... should be no reason the league doesnt let him back in the game. Forget the fact he could still be a very good player. Odell Thurman the human being seems to have made big strides. Here's hoping we can write/talk about him in the same inspirational vein we did Josh Hamilton last spring.

And of course, there is the notion of having him, Brooks and Geathers playing LB in the 3-4... there is that.

We all want to believe in rehab.

What do you think is best for the player? (1) Stay in the same area with the same influences where he went loco? (2) Have some well-meaning friend find him a more wholesome team setting in an entirely different town?

I think the best interest of the player is #2.

It's better in such recoveries to have an entirely different peer group.

Here's hoping.

Hey i am getting really excited about the fact that odell is coming back. granted, he has been out for two seasons and the only one he played was as a rookie. If Brooks can stay healthy and we do move to a 3-4 then it will be intense to see how much they will feed off of each other side by side. With him that is one step closer to having a well rounded, play making top 15 defense. If we make the right moves and our coaching comes through we could have an explosive defense.

Having said that, Chris Henry will still be in the same locker room.

Look I have no problem with the Bengals being sort of a halfway house.
We re-hab guys then send them on to other teams so they can win championships.
Its been going on for years.
Why get worked up about it now?

I'm very excited at the prospect of a 3-4 with Brooks and Thurman patrolling the inside. The question is, who plays nose? Peko? He's not a nose. Don't get me wrong, I like Peko, but he's not a nose. You need somebody there who can occupy two blockers.

Somebody like Corey Williams. Or perhaps draft USC's Sedrick Ellis?

Paul,
I hope you're right about Odell making great strides as a human being. It's such a shame when talent like his is wasted.

Having said that, it's now up to him to "man up" in order to get his life and career back on track. I truly hope he does.

The Bengals defense desperately needs a PLAYMAKER! You know, someone who can change a game's outcome. As a rookie (raw, yes, but obviously talented) he showed that ability.

Welcome back, Odell. We need 'ya. Here's another chance. Any more strikes, though, good luck somewhere else.

Paul, for the record, I thought the NASCAR program last night was pretty dull until you added the "best/worst car" angle.

NASCAR is like Pro basketball. All you need to watch is the first 5 and the last 5 minutes. Everything else is just running up and down.

Oddly, your program was a bit like that: Nascar fans don't talk about action on the track; they talk about personalities, sponsors, family picnics, etc.

They don't they talk about action on the track. Why? Because it's just round-and-round, round-and-round,round-and-round,round-and-round,round-and-round,round-and-round,....

You get the point.
