carson, willie etc

They've made it clear how they feel about the ongoing actions of team knuckleheads. Good for them. Now, it's time for them to do something about it: Take control of your locker room. Peer pressure is a powerful thing in pro sports. If enough respected players take charge and set a tone, everyone else will follow.

That's a reason Marvin Lewis loves Ray Lewis. Ray is all business, and his ability speaks for itself. The Ravens attitude, on defense especially, springs from him, not Brian Billick. Marvin Lewis has been unable to create the winning culture his team needs. Maybe some of his players can do it. You've talked the talk, Carson, Willie and, um, Sam Adams. Start walking.

Was is not Ray-Ray himeself that was involved in an "incident" where a couple people were KILLED a week before the Super Bowl? So, since he escaped from that without being convicted he is an inspiration, Doc? At least the Bengals are just involved in DUIs.

You bloggers are serious geeks...bobestes, Chris Lapp (from Kenwood, by the way),etc...
Wow...how much time do you guys have? Get off of Daugherty's nuts, for crying out loud!

Paul...I'd be very scared about these folks. 1-800-STALKER has some good tips.

Paul, I agree that the walk is harder than the talk. Let's face it, this clubhouse is littered with me first guys, hell, the fans and the writers in Cincinnati glorify the behavior. This organization has always been enamored with style over substance. The guys that are stepping up in the media appear to be on a soap box.

The franchise's hubris will not be overcome with quotes or even by taking a tough guy stance. No one can police these guys, peers or coaches. What they need is an example, and sorry scribe, it certainly isn't Chad Johnson. He may be a "great guy" if you buy his spin, but his act screams of the pervasive problem on the squad....me first, you second.

The fact that the writer from S.I. pointed out that his condo is filled with pictures of himself speaks volumes to his true character. But people within the city and the organization seem to need this type of charismatic self-centered person, like awe for a preening rooster. Until this team hoists a Lombardi trophy, their jackass mentality isn't very endearing. It's tiresome.

What kind of "character guys" should we expect out of Marvin considering his unflenching support for Ray Lewis?

Many people have already weighed in on the self proclaimed "God's Linebacker." He apparently is no more sorry today than he was after the incident, despite his professions of Christian values (The SI story was a joke).

to Anon. 12:26...Please don't misunderstand. Lewis' teammates rally around who he is as a football player. As a player, he is the pro's pro, always prepared, always mentally ready and one of the best LBs ever to play. They see him as a great teammate and, obviously, their emotional leader. The Bengals have no one like that. It's part of what Marvin Lewis meant when he said his defense needs an identity. As for the rest: Has Lewis been in trouble since Atlanta? Even linked to trouble? Is a guy allowed to change, learn, grow, improve? Man, I hope so.

Marvin can't control his locker room, and Palmer's wasting his talent hanging out with these bozos. He deserves a Super Bowl trophy, but not with the a**holes he's playing with right now. Maybe he'll wise up and go somewhere where he can actually have an impact. He's wasting his time in Cincinnati hanging with these criminals. Lewis should be fired, there's no culture of winning in the Bengals' locker room.
