oh well

Let's see. Ohio State wins arguably the biggest game in its football history, UC upsets unbeaten Rutgers and I write... about Chuck Bresnahan's kids. No offense to the Bengals defensive coordinator (or his kids), but yesterday was one of those days when a sports writer feels like a pitcher who just hung a curveball... when I made the arrangements in August, to head to New Orleans on Saturday, I had no idea OSU-Michigan would be The Game and, obviously, if anyone had told me UC would be playing unbeaten, 7th-ranked Rutgers and, um, win, I'd have had him drug-tested. Anyway, my bad. As Tony Kornheiser says on PTI, we'll try to do better next time.

I think you'll get another shot at covering The Game, Paul. If USC loses one of their remaining two games(Notre Dame and UCLA), I think the BCS will re-match OSU and Michigan in the title game. Uh...don't miss that one!

Doc,

I wanted to share a post game story after the huge Bearcat victory Saturday night. My son and I ran on the field and had a wonderful experience. The first Bearcat we talked with was Haruki Nakamura. Great kid, obviously has a huge heart because he was physically no bigger than I, 5ft 8 and about 180. He took one look at Robert and melted (Robert has Down Syndrome). He made Roberts night when he gave him one of his gloves.

We then walked over to Digger Bujnoch, a huge young man who gave Robert a high 5 and picked him up to have his picture taken with him. He was celebrating with his family but was more than happy to give Robert his attention.

Finally we found Coach Dantonio, who after the biggest win of his career, leaned over and kissed Robert on the head, then took the time to kneel down and take a picture with him.

This guy has done a spectacular job and he needs to be commended for it! He is first class, his kids are first class and I can only hope that this is the beginning of big things for Bearcat Football!

My Mother always says "Better late than never" so do us all a favor and do an article on Dantonio to let him know how much we appreciate him! We can't let him get away!!!

Maybe you can redeem yourself by making a boly prediction on who will win the Heisman Troy-phy?

Doc - i'd like you to recall an article you wrote earlier this fall, in which you told us how the NFL has it all over the College game... it's a shame, that only a 100 miles away (and, i'm guessing you'd have the ability to get a press-pass / credential), you didn't make the journey to c-bus Saturday night (yes, i understand you probably had the trip to the Big Easy booked well in advance)... if so, you would have seen an atmosphere that 5 bengals / steelers games put together couldn't trump. i was there, and watching #1 vs. #2 play a classic, along w/ 106,000 other folks (and another 100,000+ outside the stadium), was an event that only comes along once in a lifetime. amazing!

Doc-

I don't have an outlet for what I need to say tonight...so here goes on your blog...

It's 12:44 a.m. on 11/21 & i was just watching Larry King Live...the first part of the show was devoted to OJ's book deal & TV show & how those two have been pulled because of the nation's outrage.

That's all fine & good, but...they had some video footage where OJ was at USC several years ago...GUESS WHICH FAMOUS CINCINNATI QB IS featured next to OJ at USC--having a photo taken with OJ??? SOOOO DISAPPOINTING that Carson had to meet the killer in that setting. Very disappointing for me--a huge fan of Carson's--to see it...

Hope Carson has grown up since then & evaluated the evidence.

There is NO DOUBT at all that OJ is GUILTY AS HELL...wish I hadn't seen Carson there...

Living big, but dieting.

Everyone with a brain knows that Kato Kaelin is the real killer. Check yourself before you wreck yourself.

Thank you for the nice article on the UC over Rutgers win.

It was an exciting night and I was glad I was there for it.

Hopefully it will pay off in season tickets, overall attendance, recruiting, and helping to keep Coach Dantonio and his staff here for a long time.
