will be in sarasota beginning wednesday... here's what I'd like to try... send me an idea for a column you'd like me to do...it might be on my list already, it might not interest me... or it might be something I haven't thought of... anyway, if you've got a notion, send it along... I'll do my best to see it gets in the paper... Live big...

I'd like to see your bold predictions for what the Opening Day lineup will look like. Then give us your predictions for the starting lineup on the last day of the season. Explanations are only required for the differences.

I'd be interested in getting a players-eye view on what their expectations are for the season. Realistic expectations and why they think so. If they think they will be contenders, I want to know what compels them to think so.

I'd love to see an article on some of the young pitchers in camp and their estimated arrival time to the big leagues...

topic 1. what do players really think about fans? at what point does signing autographs go from being a thrill to being a chore?

topic 2. survey the players, what are their favorite regular season cities to visit and why? what are the worst and why? airport, stuff to do, ball park, etc.

topic 3. a story about fans who are at spring training for the first time after going to many MLB regular season games. what are they surprised to see (vs. regular season)? what do they like? what do they not like?

Since most fans were disheartened to see Sean Casey traded because of his community service as much as his on-field talents, how about letting the fans know about others on the team (we have some, don't we?)who are doing good things to help people? I don't know that anyone can give us the same "warm fuzzies" as Sean, but can you find something? It's nice to cheer for a bunch of guys you really like.

I'd be interested in a piece on how this organization goes about it's first spring training. Specifically, the subtleties that occur (ie the sheer number of invitees is up signaling a new philosphy. The hiring of Hatcher provides not only a first base coach but a championship mindset as well). Something similar to the story on Coach Marvin Lewis' first month @ work would be great. Net, net what does this ownership group stand for and insist upon based on what you find @ spring training?
Thanks

Doesn't feel like a Daugherty-esque column, but anyway... I'd be very interested to see a blow-by-blow recap of all of the Reds trades of the last -- I don't know -- 10 years or so. Every single guy, even if he's retired now, or still in the minors, or on another team, or whatever. Basically, let's learn from the past -- which are the trades that turned out well? Which turned out badly? Can we generalize from this? (I am a Reds fan and am frustrated that the Reds have been in "sell" mode at the trade deadline for 6 years in a row, stocking up on prospects, and yet they seem to have very few prospects in the minor leagues and are now forced to fill out their roster with affordable 36-year-olds.)

How about an article about the player's feelings on their first spring training without the heart and soul of their team - Mr. Sean Casey. What a great trade that was.

I'd like to see how Casey is getting along with his new team, and how they are taking to him.

How about an article to catch us up on what each of the former Reds who helping at Spring Training are doing.

Paul,

How about an article explaining the take of the new regime on the Casey-Williams trade which struck me as trading the class of one organization (the Reds) for another left handed fly ball starter who is not good enough to induce ground balls. A much better trade would have been Casey for a lifetime supply of resin bags.

How about a column on why any Reds fans should hold any realistic hopes this spring training that this club won't lose at least 90 games and extend their pathetic streak of losing seasons?

How about an interview with Joe Morgan - what's his take on this years Reds team ??

I'd like to read about how our old friend "The Mayor" is doing with his new team. (And exactly how the Reds are better b/c of that trade???)

How about a survey and story on the opinion of Reds fans of the Reds jerseys? That would be a fun little read... personally I dislike the abundance of the black in the uniform, and favor a sleeved, plain white jersey over the sleeveless, pinstriped one.

Just a suggestion
thanks!
